Follow on Google News | Tressa Bush and SCHTS Making History More Than Just a StoryBy: Our Featured In 2025, history comes alive again as the Smith County Historical Tourism Society (SCHTS) presents the Tennessee Maneuvers Remembered on May 3, 2025. Led by SCHTS founder Tressa Bush, this living history event will transport visitors back to 1941-1944, when over 850,000 troops used Tennessee as their training ground. Visitors can step into the past with live military demonstrations, expert talks, and interactive exhibits, experiencing firsthand how soldiers prepared for World War II and how local communities played a role in their journey. "We're not just remembering history—we're bringing it to life so future generations can experience it firsthand," says Tressa Bush. Tressa Bush, an award-winning journalist and storyteller now dedicated to preserving Tennessee's history, is organizing this event. Before founding SCHTS, she worked as a reporter for Tennessee Crossroads and a producer for Wilson County Television (WCTV), using her skills to share stories about the people and places of Tennessee. A two-time Tennessee State Press Award winner, Bush has spent years making history engaging and accessible. She has helped develop tourism, planned events, and created media content that keeps Tennessee's past alive. Tressa Bush loves history and wants others to experience it, not just read about it. That's why she started SCHTS, creating events that bring the past to life. With the Tennessee Maneuvers Commemoration, she helps people step into history—seeing, hearing, and even feeling what life was like during World War II training in Tennessee. Mark your calendars for May 3, 2025, and step back in time with Tressa Bush and SCHTS for a day of history, storytelling, and hands-on experiences.
