By: Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio Launched in September 2024, this initiative was made possible through the generous support of Huntington National Bank and is facilitated by Juanita Clarke, CEO and Founder of My Brilliant Finish Financial Group in partnership with the Urban League's Financial Empowerment Center. The program's primary goal is to help participants understand how credit works and improve their credit scores over the course of 12 months. During the first nine months, participants engaged in nine comprehensive modules. In its final phase, the program offers three months of one-on-one financial coaching followed by three months of sustainability coaching. The 700 Credit Club was conceived by Urban League President and CEO, Christie Kuhns, who drew inspiration from her personal journey to improve her own credit score. "Your credit score isn't just a number, it's a game-changer. I learned that firsthand when I set out to improve my own score," said Kuhns. "My husband has always been disciplined with his finances—frugal, smart, and intentional about money. Watching how his great credit opened doors inspired me to take my own financial journey seriously. I wanted to not just match him but truly understand how credit works and use it to my advantage. That journey led me to create the 700 Credit Club so more people in our community can experience the same financial freedom. Thanks to the incredible support of Steve Mullinger and the team at Huntington National Bank, we're making real financial empowerment possible. And this is just the beginning!" "With a commitment to looking out for people, Huntington Bank is proud to partner with the Urban League's innovative 700 Credit Club," said Steve Mullinger, Regional President of Huntington National Bank. "As participants begin to graduate from the program, we are seeing increased credit knowledge, improved credit profiles, and an overall better financial health. These benefits truly strengthen communities, and we're eager to see what these graduates do next! The program has already yielded remarkable results for its participants. Several have experienced significant improvements in their financial health. As the first class of the 700 Credit Club graduates, the Urban League remains committed to helping individuals in the community achieve financial independence and success.
