DALLAS - March 5, 2025 - PRLog -- The New Texas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas' premier all-volunteer orchestra, features a blend of classical masterpieces and new, innovative works, showcasing the orchestra's commitment to tradition and music's future during Coming of Age: Adventure on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Moody Performance Hall.

The program opens with Bränningar, op. 19 (Breaking Waves) by Helena Munktell. Written in 1895, this orchestral piece vividly captures the adventurous spirit of the sea, with its musical depictions of breaking waves and the raw power of nature. Munktell, one of the first Swedish female composers to gain international recognition, brings a timeless energy to this evocative work.

Continuing its tradition of supporting emerging talent, the NTSO will debut Scenes from Zeeskyzii by Zion Pullman, a young Dallas-based composer and graphic artist. This newly commissioned piece promises to transport audiences into fresh and imaginative soundscapes, reflecting the orchestra's dedication to fostering contemporary creativity. In addition to the musical performance, Pullman's artwork will be featured, offering a multi-sensory experience that celebrates the intersection of music and visual art.

The concert concludes with Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2 in C minor, op. 17, often called the "Little Russian." This joyful symphony, infused with themes derived from Ukrainian folk songs, highlights Tchaikovsky's early commitment to blending classical structures with local cultural influences. Its vibrant energy and uplifting melodies make it a perennial favorite among audiences worldwide.

This event underscores the NTSO's mission to bring diverse and accessible performances to the Dallas community. As part of the orchestra's ongoing efforts to engage and inspire, this concert is free to the public, though reservations are encouraged to secure seating.

The Coming of Age Adventure concert is part of the NTSO's 21st "Coming of Age" season, including various performances highlighting the orchestra's legacy and vision for the future.
