UPDATE - SC Lawyers' New Motion Fighting Firing Squad

But There's a Much Better Alternative to Help Their Client Avoid Being Shot

WASHINGTON - March 6, 2025 - PRLog -- Lawyers for convicted murderer Brad Sigmon have filed a new motion, this time with the U.S. Supreme Court, as a last ditch effort to prevent him from being put to death in South Carolina by a firing squad on Friday, March 7th, at 6:00 PM.

But while this "hail Marry" attempt is very unlikely to keep their client from being ripped apart by rifle bullets for even one more minute, there is still time for an alternative legal filing, based upon a compelling decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, says public interest law Professor John Banzhaf.

If successful, it could ban not only the firing squad, electric chair, and lethal injection in South Carolina, but also the use of suffocation and hanging anywhere in the country, says the law professor, who has written extensively on this topic.
