Dr. Brandon Gillespie Launches Campaign for NYC Mayor

NEW YORK - March 17, 2025 - PRLog -- Today, Dr. Brandon Gillespie, a professor, therapist, journalist, and longtime advocate for New Yorkers, has officially launched his campaign for Mayor of New York City. With a bold vision for a more connected, affordable, and safe city, Dr. Brandon pledges to bring fresh, results-driven leadership to City Hall.

"New York City needs bold action, not just talk," said Dr. Brandon. "Our communities deserve a mayor who prioritizes people over politics—who cuts through bureaucracy and delivers real solutions. From ensuring affordable housing is a right, not a privilege, to expanding mental health services and creating economic opportunities, I'm running to move our city forward."

Dr. Brandon's campaign is built on three core priorities:

• Affordable Housing for All – Advocating for deeply affordable housing, rent stabilization, and converting vacant commercial spaces into livable homes.
• Community-Centered Public Safety – Investing in community policing, violence interruption programs, and mental health crisis teams to build trust and reduce crime.
• Expanding Mental Health Services – Ensuring all New Yorkers have access to quality mental health care, including free counseling services and expanded funding for community clinics.

A former Community Board 11 appointee, Dr. Brandon has worked alongside residents to address local challenges, reinforcing his belief that leadership must go beyond advisory roles and deliver tangible change. His experience in media and mental health has given him a deep understanding of the struggles New Yorkers face daily, from rising costs to the need for expanded youth employment opportunities.

"We have a choice—continue with what we've always had  or embrace a bold new vision for our city," said Dr. Brandon. "I believe in an NYC that works for the people, where every resident has a fair shot at success, safety, and stability. Together, we can build a thriving city that reflects the best of who we are."
