Swarmed Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Rescue 10,000 Bee Swarms and Support Beekeepers

Swarmed will expand North America's largest swarm response network, offering new tools for beekeepers and a goal to report and rescue 10,000 swarms this spring amid record hive losses.

SAN FRANCISCO - March 19, 2025 - PRLog -- Swarmed, the world's leading honey bee swarm reporting platform, is launching its first crowdfunding campaign to support beekeepers and strengthen pollinator health. The campaign will fund Swarmed V3, an expanded system that makes it easier for beekeepers to find and rescue swarms. Swarmed's goal is to report and rehome 10,000 honey bee swarms this season.

Each spring, hundreds of thousands of honey bee swarms emerge across North America. For homeowners and businesses, swarms can be a public nuisance when they settle on buildings, vehicles, or public spaces. For beekeepers, swarms are a crucial opportunity to rebuild colonies after winter losses. Reports from Project Apis m. and the USDA show hive mortality has exceeded 60 percent in some regions this year.

Most beekeepers in North America are hobbyists. They often manage only a few colonies and typically do not have websites or business listings, making them difficult to find when swarms appear. Swarmed bridges this gap by connecting the public with nearby beekeepers who can safely rehome swarms in real time.

"This has been one of the hardest years on record for beekeepers," said Mateo Kaiser, Managing Director of Swarmed. "Swarms offer a vital opportunity to recover losses and strengthen colonies for the season ahead. Swarmed makes it easier for beekeepers to find and rescue swarms before they're lost."

Swarmed V3 builds on the platform's success with new tools for beekeepers and associations. Key features include:
  • North America's largest swarm response database.
  • A predictive heatmap that shows where swarms are likely to occur.
  • A streamlined claiming system that reduces delays between reports and rescues.
  • A dashboard for beekeeper associations to coordinate responses.
Swarmed works with beekeeping associations and nonprofit partners such as the Pollinator Partnership. The platform collects citizen science data that supports real-time rescues and helps predict swarm activity. This growing dataset will offer new insights into swarm behavior, an under-researched area of bee biology.

Swarmed's crowdfunding campaign launches in [Month]. Supporters will receive early access to Swarmed V3 and exclusive campaign rewards. Beekeepers, citizen scientists, and pollinator advocates are encouraged to participate.
