'The Consent Project' Empowers Your Medical Decisions! Ready to Take Control?

The Kidney Patients Association Barrie and South Simcoe is proud to announce the launch of The Consent Project, a vital initiative designed to empower kidney patients with comprehensive information and support regarding informed consent in their healthcare journey.

"The Consent Project" aims to demystify the complexities of medical consent, ensuring patients are fully informed and actively involved in decisions about their care.

The cornerstone of this project is the "NOPE" card released late in 2024. Inspired by the card game Exploding Kittens, the card helps communicate the judicious application of the withholding of consent on occasion.

"Informed consent is a cornerstone of patient-centered care," says the Kidney Patients Association Barrie and South Simcoe. "Our goal with The Consent Project is to equip kidney patients with the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed decisions about their treatment and well-being. Of course patients are reminded to speak to their healthcare team about what withholding consent means for them."
