Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Announces 2025 Inductees

RICHMOND, Va. - March 31, 2025 - PRLog -- The Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame proudly announces its 2025 honorees, celebrating their outstanding impact on wrestling in Virginia and beyond.

The induction ceremony on April 12 at Virginia Crossings Hotel in Glen Allen, VA, will honor these individuals' achievements and dedication to wrestling.

2025 Inductees for Lifetime of Service:

• Corey Beckner / VHSL Official – for 23 years made his mark as a topflight Virginia High School League official including 15 VA state tournaments.
• Tom Dillinger / Stonewall Jackson HS – instrumental in leading teams to championships as an assistant coach for 44 years at four Prince William Country Public Schools.
• Jeff Edmondson / Roanoke Valley Wrestling Assoc. – tournament director extraordinaire for youth, high school, and college events, including Div. III NCAA Nationals, and the Hokie Open.
• Joyce Edmondson / Roanoke Valley Wrestling Assoc.  – for almost 40 years, lent her expertise to run high school and college events, including those at Ferrum, W&L, Roanoke, and the ACC Tournament at VA Tech.
• Steve Garland / UVA – as head coach for the University of Virginia, he has won two ACC Championships, produced 14 NCAA All-Americans, and had seven top-25 rankings.
• Larry Hall / VHSL Tournament Director – as one who does it all, directed 37 state tournaments and two NCAA Div. 3 championships.
• Mark Sudik / VHSL Official – called upon for all the high-pressure events, served 11 years as a coach and 27 years officiating, including 16 Virginia state championships.
• John Swartz / Peninsula Wrestling Association – since 1999, led the growth of Virginia Duals into a nationally recognized high school and college showcase event.

2025 Inductee for Medal of Courage:

• Jon VanSice / Clarke County HS – after being confined to a wheelchair and a paraplegic, 24-year head coach built the program and led his team to a state championship.

2025 Honorees for 2024-25 High School Season:

• Patrick Shuler / Brookville HS – Coach of the Year
• Jeff Daly – Official of the Year
• Jenna Anderson / Cosby HS – Female Student-Athlete of the Year
• Tyler Hood / St. Christopher's – Student-Athlete of the Year Independent Schools
• Wyatt Bush / Grundy HS – Student-Athlete of the Year 1A/2A Schools
• Noah Nininger / Staunton River HS – Student-Athlete of the Year 3A/4A Schools
• Chase Van Hoven / Brook Point HS – Student-Athlete of the Year 5A/6A Schools
