Follow on Google News | Wellbeing Think Tank Calls for Action After NIOSH Cuts, Urges Support for Worker ProtectionsAs protections for workers face increasing threats, Wellbeing Think Tank urges cross-sector collaboration to defend workplace health, safety, and wellbeing through evidence-based resources and community action.
In a new public post titled "Across Roles, Across Sectors: A Call to Unite for Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing," Wellbeing Think Tank founder, Chase Sterling, reflects on the interconnected roles of HR leaders, DEI practitioners, researchers, safety professionals, and mental health advocates — and why this moment demands collective action. "When protections at agencies like NIOSH are weakened, it doesn't just impact one agency — it harms the foundation of safe work across every industry," said Sterling. "This is about more than policy. It's about people. And we need everyone at the table." NIOSH, a division of the CDC, plays a critical role in protecting workers through research, guidance, and data-driven recommendations. Its contributions have shaped national standards on everything from equitable health and safety practices, heat safety protections, and guidance for preventing injuries and fatalities in high-risk jobs. The weakening of NIOSH and other public protections threatens these advances — and could lead to preventable harm for millions of workers. The post also underscores a core reason why Wellbeing Think Tank was founded: to create a space where the fragmented efforts around worker wellbeing can be brought together into a shared, community-driven practice. "Wellbeing is too often siloed into categories like safety, mental health, or DEI," said Sterling. "But in reality, we're all working toward the same goals. It's time to break down the walls and treat wellbeing as the ecosystem it truly is." Wellbeing Think Tank invites individuals and organizations who are committed to building healthier, more equitable workplaces to join the movement. The organization hosts monthly gatherings and shares accessible, evidence-based resources for practitioners and leaders across industries.
