Donelson began by reading her book, which follows William, a curious young boy, as he explores real-world data concepts through an adventure at a carnival. After the reading, children participated in a special LEGO® duck-building activity using a design created by Eli Watson, a local high school student from Woodbridge. The activity encouraged kids to think critically about shapes, patterns, and problem-solving— Following the build, kids took part in a LEGO® brick scavenger hunt, searching the store for 10 hidden LEGO® brick ducks. The activity reinforced observation and attention to detail—just like the activities in Donelson's book. "Seeing kids connect data concepts to hands-on play was amazing," Donelson said. "LEGO® building is a great way to introduce skills like problem-solving, patterns, and creativity." Bricks & Minifigs Woodbridge: Where Learning Meets Play Bricks & Minifigs Woodbridge, owned by Adam and Katherine Watson, opened on December 14, 2024.
