Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc(SEM Link) and ASA Community Science Center Establish P

April 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that recently expanded its programs to the Bay Area, has established a partnership with ASA Community Science of Oakland, CA. This partnership will allow both organizations to pool their resources to enhance the math and science educational experiences for Bay Area youth.

The organizations will collaborate on several programs and special events through both of SEM Link’s two core programs, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy, which will be hosted at ASA Community Science Center. Through the Math and Science Career Academy, the organizations will collaborate on the math and science literacy club, Science Café and other special events. The Math and Science Literacy Club will provide students an opportunity to develop their literacy skills, while reading math and science books, journals and magazines and current events. Through the Experimental Design Program, SEM Link will teach students principles for designing and conducting experiments for math and science fair projects, while the community science center will provide a place for students to conduct their experiments.

SEM Link is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 that promotes student achievement and career exploration in math and science for K-12 students by connecting them with individuals with backgrounds in science, engineering and mathematics. SEM Link has a two-core program model, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy. These programs provide students with opportunities to develop their math and science skills by enhancing the classroom learning experience and teaching them skills that are transferable to other areas of life.
Established in 2002, ASA Community Science Center is a small, urban, hands on, minds on, science center located in Oakland, CA. We are a community of students, parents, teachers, business and community leaders and neighbors who share a vested interest in preparing urban youth for STEM related fields.
