SEM Link is hosting STEM and Basketball : A March Madness Event for Youth

ATLANTA - March 4, 2024 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link (SEM Link) through its Community STEM Program is hosting a March Madness event for youth. The event, STEM and Basketball, in partnership with Bright Star United Methodist Church, will take place on Saturday, March 9^th from 11:00am-2:00 pm. March Madness is the time of year, mid-March through the beginning of April, when the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) men's and women's college basketball tournaments are held. The purpose of this event is to use the March Madness tournament as a platform to guide youth in discovering the connections between STEM and Basketball.

The goals of the STEM and Basketball event are to:

• Expose youth to the STEM of the game of basketball.
• Expose youth to the STEM that is connected to the game of basketball.
• Expose youth to STEM careers connected to the game of basketball.

At STEM and Basketball, kids and teens will learn about the STEM of basketball techniques and dive into basketball statistics. There will also be a video game development session.  "We look forward to creatively engaging our community's youth, stimulating their minds, and supporting their physical well-being through our STEM and Basketball event. We are excited about this opportunity to connect with our neighbors and believe that several young leaders will be inspired," states Rev. Orlando Evans, Senior Pastor of Bright Star United Methodist Church.

The STEM and Basketball event will take place in the Bright Star United Methodist Church Activity Center located at 3715 Bright Star Rd, Douglasville, GA 30135. Youth can be registered for the event via the link below:
