SEM Link Hosts Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Career Fairs on Both Coasts

Jan. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link’s (SEM Link) Math and Science Career Academy, which exposes K-12 to math and science through hands on activities, real-world applications and career exploration, is hosting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics  (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibitions in the San Francisco Bay Area and Metropolitan Atlanta areas. The purpose of the event is to expose K-12 students to the various careers and applications in these disciplines. Exhibitors, professionals and students in these disciplines, will feature their careers, conduct hands-on demonstrations or showcase real world applications of math and science.  The event will be set up similar to a job fair in which students will visit exhibitors’ tables and get an opportunity to meet and interact with them.  “We are very excited to host this event for another year in Metro Atlanta and to expand it to the San Francisco Bay Area.” Executive Director and Founder Tokiwa Smith said. “Each year our attendees leave the event excited and engaged about STEM careers and we look forward to the same thing happening this year at both fairs”.

The 1st Annual San Francisco Bay Area Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibition will take place on  February 26, 2011 from 10:00am- 1:00 pm at Devry University’s Oakland Center is located at 505 14th Street, Oakland, CA. This event is free and open to the public; however you must pre-register at http://semlinksfbayareastemcareerfair.eventbrite.com.

The 4th Annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibition will take place on Saturday May 14, 2011 from 10:00am- 2:00 pm at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech)  Student Center Ballroom is located at 350 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA. This event is free and open to the public; however you must pre-register at http://semlinkatlstemcareerfair.eventbrite.com .


SEM Link is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia, that promotes student achievement and career exploration in math and science for K-12 students by connecting them with individuals with backgrounds in science, engineering and mathematics. SEM Link has a two-core program model, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy, that provide students with opportunities to develop their math and science skills by enhancing the classroom learning experience and teaching them skills that are transferable to other areas of life. Since its inception SEM Link has enhanced educational experiences for over 1000 Metro Atlanta youth through hands on math and science activities, career exploration and exposure to real world applications of math and science.  In January 2010, SEM Link expanded its programs to the Bay Area to enhance the educational experiences for Bay Area youth.
