Golden Boy Boxer Advocates for Father's Rights

WASHINGTON - Dec. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Kevin Rivers Jr. a professional featherweight boxer with Golden Boy Promotions, launched his online ministry and virtual support group Father’s Fight Ministry on Christmas Day. Fathers Fight Ministry offers spiritually based services to fathers in need of counseling and prayer.

The organization serves as platform for fathers from all parts of the globe to connect and build one another up emotionally,physically, and spiritually. The motto for the organization is “We are to love our children as God loves us”. The virtual ministry will feature monthly bible studies, prayer meetings and interviews/podcasts geared towards increasing awareness of fathers’ rights issues.

Prior to founding the organization Mr. Rivers was involved in a tiresome custody battle for his oldest son. In September of 2014 Mr. Rivers was given visitation rights and denied paternal rights of his son. He made a conscious effort to exercise his faith in God during that difficult time and channeled all of his energy into building an outlet for fathers in similar predicaments such as himself.

“As a believer I have a responsibility to use my faith to elevate myself and others during difficult times. I understand how challenging it can be trying to be a good father and having a judge’s gavel break your heart.  I experienced sleepless nights, undried tears and feelings of anger and resentment.  I want to help my fellow fathers equip themselves with the necessary tools mentally and spiritually for battle. Turning our test into our testimony that is what this ministry is about. Healing, and changing the world one father at a time.”

In November 2015 Mr. Rivers married his girlfriend of two years. The newlyweds are expecting their first child together February 2016. “I am extremely blessed to experience the gift of fatherhood for a second time. I look forward to raising my two boys to be God-fearing men, loving husbands and devoted fathers.”

Kevin “K-Smoove” Rivers Jr. is an American featherweight professional boxer from Palmer Park, MD. Rivers has a current professional record of 12-1-9 (12 wins, 1 loss, 9 knockouts) signed with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. He was a highly decorated amateur national champion with a 150-15 record. Rivers began boxing at the age of 9 and has 16 years of experience in the ring. He is from a family of boxers, his grandfather was street knockout artist, and his father and uncles trained in Palmer Park boxing gyms home of the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard. Rivers is a devout Christian and uses the slogan “Don’t Let the Smoove taste fool ya” along with his motto for life Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
