DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - Jan. 11, 2024 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) recently expanded its programming to serve the youth of Douglas County through a partnership with the City of Douglasville Park and Recreation Department, "STEM at the Park". The STEM at the Park partnership brings program activities of both SEM Link's programs, Community STEM and Experimental Design Program, to provide opportunities for youth to engage in hands-on STEM events, explore STEM Careers, and develop their STEM Literacy skills. This partnership also provides opportunities for youth in Douglas County to participate in SEM Link's digital learning opportunities.

"As a resident of Douglas County, it was important to me to expand our programming to serve youth in this area," said Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith, SEM Link Founder and Executive Director. "There are plenty of brilliant youth that would consider STEM careers, if they had the opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM activities. There are also STEM professionals and STEM organizations in Douglas County that want an opportunity to engage in STEM Outreach where they live and/or work.:"

STEM at the Park consists of monthly programming for youth that takes place between September and April at the city's recreation centers.  It also includes SEM Link supporting selected community events in the City of Douglasville with the Parks and Recreation Department to engage youth in hands-on STEM activities. The City of Douglasville is also one of the community spaces in which SEM Link donates culturally relevant STEM books and graphic novels for kids and teens. "STEM at the Park is a unique concept where STEM is brought to our community through the park systems, by exceptional professionals whose goal is to increase the access of STEM to our youth," stated Shajra Thrasher, Operations Manager for Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department.  "Removing the financial barrier, so youth can learn about STEM and gain a love for STEM. This partnership literally links our youth into a future as a STEM professional."  Families can learn more about and register their kids and teens for STEM at the Park programs and events by visiting the City of Douglasville Park and Recreation Department's website https://bit.ly/STEMATTHEPARK and our programs for teens https://bit.ly/SATPTEENSCIENCECAFE
