Jan. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- CHARLESTON, S.C.—Your mother always told you no dessert until after dinner, but now Charleston restaurant Circa 1886 is letting you indulge your sweet tooth and enjoy an all-dessert dinner throughout the month of February in honor of Valentine’s Day.

Circa 1886, a AAA Four-Diamond restaurant located in the historic carriage house of the award-winning Wentworth Mansion® hotel in Charleston, S.C., will offer an all-dessert menu option, allowing guests to chose three desserts from the restaurant’s winter menu for $25 per person. The restaurant is also offering a wine pairing with each dessert for an additional $25 per person.

Dessert selections include a warm chocolate cake topped with bittersweet espresso custard, bourbon mint syrup and condensed milk coffee ice cream; gingerbread pudding with pear butter, almond crunch and orange blossom honey ice cream; as well as brown sugar shortbread with coconut panna cotta, milk chocolate ganache and fleur de sel caramel. Also available are a skillet apple cake served with rosemary-red wine caramel sauce, roasted pecan crème Anglaise and cider sorbet and a sweet potato butterscotch soufflé paired with blackstrap molasses crème Anglaise and vanilla bean marshmallows.

“We are excited to offer a unique and fun dinner for our guests in tribute to Valentine’s Day, a time known for delectable desserts,” says Emily Cookson, pastry chef at Circa 1886. “I know more than a few people who would love to break the rules (we promise not to tell Mom) and trade in a traditional dinner for a selection of sweets instead.”

The restaurant will continue to offer its regular winter menu, as well. The all dessert-dinner will not be available on Feb. 14, when the restaurant serves a special five-course dinner with seatings at 6 and 9 p.m.

Set inside the historic carriage house for the award-winning Wentworth Mansion® hotel at 149 Wentworth St. in Charleston, S.C., Circa 1886 is a AAA Four-Diamond award-winning restaurant offering traditional southern cuisine with a modern twist in a sophisticated, historic setting. Executive Chef Marc Collins, named by Esquire Magazine as a chef to watch in 2002 and co-founder of the successful BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival, presents innovative southern dishes, which draw on the rich culinary history of Charleston during the time period when the Mansion was originally constructed. Collins also brings a French influence and a touch of 21st century culinary artistry to his creations. Circa 1886 has received numerous accolades, including the DiRoNA award for fine dining in North America, as well as the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
