Suzan Lewis, Daughter of Entertainer Jerry Lewis to Enter the TV Talk Show Circuit

Oct. 16, 2008 - PRLog -- When Globe Magazine ran a two page cover story about Suzan Lewis and her estranged, biological father, entertainer Jerry Lewis, the media offers began pouring in. But celebrity representative Rick Saphire told Star Time News that "Permitting Ms. Lewis to have a private relationship with her very public father was more important than publicity." Saphire reports that Suzan Lewis is trying very hard to bounce back from a devastating several years that found the former debutante disabled, due to a nearly fatal auto accident, and homeless, living in her car in Florida. She tried to reach out to her father for support in her career as a spokeswoman for homeless and displaced Americans, but that help was not forthcoming. So now, she'll do it on her own, and accept the media invitations.

The last time Suzan Lewis Uchitel spent time with her father was in France (where she was living at the time), during the early 1980s. Suzan remembers being in Jerry Lewis' hotel suite with her father and her young son, Jerry, Jr. Also present were Sandee Pitnick, the future second wife of Jerry Lewis, and the star's manager, Joe Stabile. Suzan Lewis recalls, "He treated me like a caring dad, and even called my mother (with whom he had a romantic affair in 1951) on the phone." But Suzan Lewis reports that Jerry Lewis elected to discontinue his relationship with her around the same time he was beginning a new life with the future Mrs. Lewis.

Suzan Lewis made her comedy club debut on August 26, 2008, at the Philadelphia's, Helium, comedy club. Ms. Lewis entertained with satirical pantomime reminiscent to Jerry Lewis' work before teaming up with Dean Martin, in the 1940s. Ms. Lewis said, "This classic comedy treatment was actually brand new for the young audience at the Helium club. They're used to seeing stand up comics. Once they caught that my insanity was planned, they seemed to relax and have a great time!"

Suzan Lewis' brave battle to regain her pride and independence following her disabling accident and homelessness, is the subject of an upcoming book. Suzan's live stage and TV appearances, and speaking engagements will highlight her inherited sense of humor. Her goal will be to entertain, motivate, and inspire those who come to see her perform, and to heighten awareness of the plight of the homeless and disabled in the USA.
