Former prison guard Lonnie Starling dedicated 21 years of his life to guarding reckless, pernicious souls. Now a fulltime writer, Starling, and his family live near Jacksonville, Florida. Starling was motivated to share his experiences to educate the public about the atrocities one can face in prison. Throughout his career, he has encountered numerous life threatening incidents while working in the Florida prison system. His life’s work gave impetus to this very raw, unmasked look of the dangers of working and living within the prison system. His career was in stark contrast to his loving family life. He is happily married to his wife, Penny of twenty-two years, and together, they have two daughters and one granddaughter.
