Graduation Day At EMRI

EMRI and Stanford School of Medicine – confers the title of ACE (Advanced Clinical Educators) to the first batch of clinical instructors

Feb. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- India: EMRI and Stanford School of Medicine, USA conducted a convocation ceremony at EMRI campus,Devaryamzal,Medchal today to confer the ACE degree to the trainers of Post graduation program in Emergency Care (PGPEC). Advanced Clinical Educators (ACEs) are the individuals who fulfill the eligibility to exhibit skills, knowledge and attitude required to train and develop advanced emergency medical technicians (EMT-A).
Having launched the 2 year PGPEC (July, 2007)   in partnership with Stanford School of Medicine   EMRI had also recruited 20 trainers /instructors to run the program. These trainers from Emergency Medical Service backgrounds were further trained by Stanford and completed an 18 months ACE training program that was jointly designed and developed by Stanford University and EMRI. The program constituted classroom/ virtual learning from experts, participation in skills/demonstrations conducted for PGPEC students as well as participation / performance in independent research projects.  The process also included providing technical lectures to the experts on ongoing basis and get feedback from them for further improvement.  

Present from Stanford School of Medicine were Professor Mahadevan, Dr Mathew Sterlow, and Dr.  Uta- Senior Emergency Physicians/ Trainers. The special guest for the ceremony was Professor Arun Tiwari, Director, Care Foundation Hyderabad.  Also present were Mr. Venkat Changavalli, CEO, EMRI and Dr G V Ramana Rao, Executive Partner – Emergency Medicine Learning and Care- EMRI.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Venkat Changavalli, CEO- EMRI said " The 'I' part of EMRI has moved to a special status with the first batch of  ACEs completing their graduation. ACEs should stand for their Attitude, Compassion and Energy while teaching new students of PGPEC and as well as in patient care."On the occasion of graduation, Dr. G .V Ramana Rao, Executive Partner, Emergency Medicine Learning and Care said "This group of ACE graduate's integrity and professionalism is the result of their important learning's from the Trainers at Stanford. In addition to updates in advanced emergency care and teaching and training skills, these qualities will enable them to forward the EMS profession for EMRI and EMS in India".

Post Graduate Program in Emergency Care (PGPEC) is a 2 year program designed by EMRI and Stanford school of medicine, USA to prepare students to perceive their career as:
•         Providers of advanced ambulance-based pre-hospital care
•         Practitioners of emergency care as an integral part of emergency departments of hospitals
•         Preceptors and Instructors of Paramedic Teaching/Training Institutes and Training Programs.
•         Part of EMS research.
•         Program Managers of organizations involved in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The 2 year program is having didactic, simulation lab (skill Lab), hospital, field /clinical components.  Summative field internship and final assessment will lead to joint certification by Stanford and EMRI.       In the words of  Dr S. V. Mahadevan, Director of PGPEC program from Stanford University USA –   "EMRI training institute is developing as world class training institute for paramedics in the world".
