Follow on Google News | Local Orlando Boot Camp Instructor Shares His Valentine's Day Survival GuideLocal boot camp instructor, Max Hoyt, shares his favorite tips for making Valentine's day a great day for your waist and your heart.
By: FIRM Fitness Camp: Max Hoyt 1. Cook a Romantic Meal at Home: Not only does this show creativity and thought on your part, but it can also save you thousands of calories! Hoyt says there are thousands of recipes to make that are romantic as well as healthy. He suggests that you google the phrase, "healthy valentine's day meals" and see what you get! 2. Share a Dessert: Whether you're at home or dining out, Hoyt says sharing a dessert instantly reduces the calories you were going to take in by half. "it saves calories for sure and the last time I checked, feeding your date dessert is a great part of a wonderful night" 3. Limit Your Wine: Hoyt says that even though it can be tempting to have a bottle of wine with a nice Valentine's day meal, opt instead to have only a glass or two (4 oz. pours) He says that this will save you from some empty calories and if you're drinking red wine then up to 8 oz in a day is great for your heart because of the tannins that are in the red wine. 4. Drink a glass of water 30 minutes before you eat: "This is a great trick to use to get full while eating less food", says Hoyt. By drinking eight ounces of water 30 minutes before you eat, you fill up faster as the food you eat soaks up the water and expands in your stomach. 5. Don't Starve Yourself: "The absolute worst thing you can do is not eat all day just because you are going to have a nice meal later", says Hoyt. "You think you are saving yourself calories but really you're sending your body in to a panic mode and it's going to do all kinds of bad things to save calories because it thinks it's starving" The solution is to eat at regular intervals during the day just like any other. Hoyt says, "This will ensure you keep your metabolism elevated and burning calories at a higher rate" Max Hoyt (IFPA & IYCA certified PT) is a local Orlando fitness boot camp instructor and real world fat loss expert.
