About Tony Varro

Casting Director Tony Varro started his acting career in New York City where he appeared in hit National Television series such as “Naked City” and “Startime.”

25 years ago Varro moved to Clearwater, Florida and saw a need for a professional casting service for the area's growing television, commercial, and movie business.  Since there were very few trained on-camera actors in the area Varro started teaching his on-camera acting workshops which he still teaches every Wednesday evening.  Using the knowledge he learned working in the New York market Varro has successfully cast over 400 commercials, television shows, and movies.

Because of his extensive contacts in New York, he has been able to encourage New York production companies to come to Florida to shoot their projects here and take advantage of our beautiful weather and locations.  One such project was the Japanese Television program “Astonishing Stories” which recreated the story of a bride who attacked an armed burglar and was able to save the wedding presents he was trying to steal.  These projects expend a great deal of money in our area and are great for the Florida economy.  Varro was hired by a Los Angeles production company to cast the Florida portion of the feature film “Street Dreams” which follows the amazing action of Professional Skateboarding and its loyal fans.  He was also a celebrity judge for two seasons on the hit local show “Host Hunt” along with winners of the Bachelor show, Mary Delgado and Melissa McGhee and host Dave McKay from WQYK.

Working seven days a week casting projects for the growing local production company market and teaching his well-known acting classes that emphasizing the New York acting technique, Varro’s goal for Florida is to pass New York and California in the area of production making.
