PRLog -- Green Real Estate Education has successfully led the effort for 2 years in the United States to educate those in the real estate sector on the basics of how green building will relate to their profession for under $100. The offering of the Green Certified Mortgage Professional Level One Green Leadership, GCMP-GL for mortgage professionals is the first of its kind in the United States. The professions in the real estate industry have been challenged as other industries for loss of revenue and jobs due to the economic downturn. Kerry Mitchell, President of Green Real Estate Education says, " We are the only company in the country who has designed a certification program offering "green building" education to the mortgage industry." Jobs need to be stabilized for the real estate and mortgage sectors. Through the economic stimulus plan that President Obama's programs have outlined, there is opportunity for those who manufacture, install, sell and market "green" systems, for rainwater, recycling efforts promoting energy efficiency. Mitchell states, " We just need to shift our perspective to those who will finance the growth of businesses and for consumers interested in installing solar and other energy savings measures." The company says financial professionals involved in the residential sector have interest in the new green revolution but are still in the dark of what energy efficient mortgages are and what education is needed. "Continuing Education Credits are the key to getting this information to these professionals and price point and smaller classes will peak their interest." says Mitchell. The Mortgage Industry is comprised of over 2 million professionals including loan officers, processors, underwriters and other professions nationwide. Washington State, Maryland and Texas are the first states in the country to offer the Green Certified Mortgage Professional, Level One certification from Green Real Estate Education. The GCMP-GL is the first certification for the mortgage industry serving as an introduction to green building arena.
"Green Real Estate Education has set the standard and now others want to join in. We welcome others into the education field but we take offense when they over charge the industry. It is not necessary." concludes Mitchell. Current programs beginning to show in the marketplace do not offer continuing education credits and most are offering education for $200-$500 per student, with all day or up to 2 full days of a commitment and in the economy, this may pose a challenge for participation. Registration in these programs has been low and classes have been cancelled.
"This will cancel out 90% of our population to get this much needed information."
The company's model of pursuing approval for the importance of continuing education credits is crucial for this sector and have educated over 4,500 with more scheduled in 2009.
