Unburied Family-Recession Forces Increase In Numbers Of Unclamed Bodies Hadley-Davis Funerals Helps

"As Florida continues to lag behind the nation on the economic recovery curve, local families search to find alternatives to meet all their basic needs. The recession is forcing families to do what was once unthinkable".

Sept. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Miami, Fl. - More and more people are abandoning loved ones to be disposed of by county government and medical examiners offices nationwide, (according to a recent article in TIME, 8/7/09). Lori Davis, LFD of Hadley-Davis Funeral Home, in Miami Gardens, Fl., offers solutions. She is serving the community and giving people a fitting and thoughtful way of saying farewell to loved ones at an affordable rate.

Increasing funeral costs, once thought of as outrageous and taking advantage of families in their deepest moments of grieve is now affordable even for the smallest budget. Mrs. Davis says, “In my estimation, there is no need to add undue stress on families at a time when stress levels are already overwhelmingly high. I do complete (inclusion of service) funerals from $2795.00 and cremations from $1295.00”. For many reasons Mrs. Davis is not an advocate of long term planned pre-need contracts because they are not transferable if the original funeral home has moved or is out of business. In many cases families do not get what they originally paid for particularly if the contract is dated (i.e. 5 years or older). In many cases families are asked to spend additional monies, even if the pre-need contract is paid in full; the underlying explanation offered is the rising cost of materials and doing business.

Although exact numbers were not disclosed by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office, resources do confirm that numbers are on the rise for many reasons, one of which is the increase in unclaimed bodies from families unable to afford funeral costs. According to the Time.com article, areas like Los Angeles showed burials and cremations are up 36%,  and in Clark County Nevada numbers were up by 22%, a large contributing factor is unclaimed bodies due to economic hardship. The average adult funeral cost, taken from a survey conducted in July 2007, by the National Funeral Directors Association-Statistics, is about $7323 (not including cemetery, monument or marker costs) for calendar year 2006. Comparing those averages with the services offered by Mrs. Davis, relief begins in Miami-Gardens; with funeral services starting from $2795 at Hadley-Davis Funeral Homes, affordable alternatives are available.

Hadley-Davis Funeral Home is a full service facility that puts service above profit. Newly located at 16505 NW 27th Avenue in Miami Gardens; their mission is to serve the community conscientiously with complete pride and a sense of family.
