SCS Engineers' Ray Huff to Speak at IEA Annual Summit, Oct. 8-9

Industrial Environmental Association's Annual Statewide Environmental Summit in San Diego

Oct. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- San Diego, CA— SCS Engineers Vice President Ray Huff, REA, is speaking at the Industrial Environmental Association’s Annual Statewide Environmental Summit, set for October 8-9 at the Catamaran Resort Hotel in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Huff’s presentation, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, is titled “Impact of Mandatory GHG Reporting on California Industry: Conflicts/Differences with Existing Voluntary Programs and New Federal Regulations.” It will focus on the conflicts and differences between California’s AB32 and existing voluntary programs and new federal regulations regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

“With new California and now Federal GHG standards taking effect, this is a critical issue for businesses and industrial operations throughout the state of California, for those who have previously voluntarily reported their GHG emissions and for those who have never created an inventory and are unaware of whether or not the new regulations even apply to them,” Mr. Huff said.

Mr. Huff has more than 18 years of experience in environmental consulting, specializing in GHG emissions quantification and verification, regulatory compliance and assessment of landfill post-closure care, and general air quality/compliance issues. He is the western regional GHG validation/verification project lead within SCS Engineers, responsible for technical expertise on verification procedures for multiple GHG programs and ensuring consistency with the company’s GHG validation/verification procedures.  Mr. Huff is an accredited Lead Verifier under California's AB32 Mandatory GHG Reporting regulation, the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR), The Climate Reserve (TCR), and the Climate Action Reserve (Reserve).

SCS Engineers, an environmental engineering consulting firm, is a State of California-accredited verification body under AB32, CCAR, and a participant in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Pilot Program for GHG Validation and Verification (V/V) Program accreditation.
