Telesoft Technologies extends NEBS compliance to OKEFORD 1500 Announcement Server

Oct. 7, 2009 - PRLog -- The OKEFORD 1500 Announcement Server is a drop-in replacement for Cognitronics’ McIAS and CX Series Announcement Servers used extensively by operators in US central offices for network announcement services.  Extending NEBS level 3 certification to the OKEFORD Media Platform proves its ‘carrier-grade’ pedigree and demonstrates Telesoft Technologies` continued commitment to the service provider market.

Based on the latest generation of hardware the OKEFORD 1500 Announcement Server consisting of an industry standard 2U server and a PCI Express (PCIe) telephony board with multiple T1 interfaces.

Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) testing is required in the U.S. for equipment operated in carrier networks. To obtain NEBS Level 3 Certification, the OKEFORD 1500 Announcement Server was subject to extensive testing including fire resistance, earthquake survivability, vibration, thermal margin testing, electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic interference (EMI) and power faults. Complete compliance to all NEBS specifications ensures that the equipment being deployed is acceptable for use in service provider central offices.

Network equipment building systems (NEBS) describes the typical environment in regional bell operating company (RBOC) central offices in the United States. Developed by Bell Labs (now Telcordia) in the 1970s, NEBS standardized equipment to be installed in a central office.
