Telesoft Technologies wins order from US cable operator

Provides migration path from MGCP to Next Generation Media Services

April 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta, Georgia – 12 April 2010 – Telesoft Technologies announced today it had won an order from a national US cable operator to upgrade its network announcement media servers. Telesoft Technologies will augment and replace the aging Cognitronics CX500 Media Servers with the more powerful and versatile OKEFORD 1500 Media Platform.

The OKEFORD 1500 supports both MGCP over IP needed for the current network deployment and the SIP protocol that is used in next generation architectures to which cable companies and  traditional carriers are now moving. The cable operator is therefore able to upgrade their network, even mix architectures (TDM & IP), as needed with minimal disruption to services.

Operators moving to the OKEFORD 1500 Media Platform will also benefit from its green credentials, saving operational costs in cooling and power as well as reducing footprint in congested equipment rooms. While the Cognitronics CX500 could support 200 voice channels its modern replacement can handle 2000 voice channels – reducing the footprint requirements by a factor of 10x and power consumption by approximately 80%.

“Since purchasing Cognitronics our strategy has been to provide both professional support for the discontinued MCIAS and CX series and a strong replacement roadmap towards the OKEFORD Media Platform which suits our customers future needs,” said John Green, VP Sales Americas, Telesoft Technologies. “This order demonstrates we are meeting those needs. Over the coming weeks we expect to announce several other design wins with operators in the USA and internationally.”

The OKEFORD 1500 Media Platform uses a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) server providing a cost-effective solution. The same pre-recorded vocabularies and user interfaces will be used as on the current Cognitronics Media Servers enabling an identical customer experience, something no other media server vendor can offer.

As part of the rollout, interoperability testing with the Cisco BTS10200 softswitch and the operator network has already been successfully completed. Deployment will start immediately.
