COX Charities Continues Their Support of Arizona Science Center

Nov. 27, 2009 - PRLog -- While some businesses have eliminated or cut back on their charitable contributions in 2009, Cox Charities employees have donated nearly $270,000 to 49 non-profit organizations in the Phoenix area, one of which was Arizona Science Center.

Cox Charities grants are awarded on an annual basis with the focus on youth and education. Cox Charities funds are raised through employee-driven fundraisers and personal contributions throughout the year, and since its inception in 1996, Cox has awarded more than $2.4 million to Arizona charities.

Arizona Science Center is a proud recipient of Cox Charities grant dollars raised by its employees. It is with the continued support of organizations like Cox Charities and its employees that Arizona Science Center is able to serve our greater Arizona communities with hands-on science discovery programs that inspire, educate and entertain people of all ages about science.

The funds from Cox Charities will go directly to support the Center’s Free School Admissions program benefiting underserved youth and teachers from Title 1 schools by underwriting free field trips to Arizona Science Center, as well as free teacher workshops and educator resources. In 2008 Arizona Science Center saw nearly 40,000 students from Title 1 schools.
