March 8, 2010 - PRLog -- A new educational consulting firm, Project Equilibria Mathematics and Science Educational Consulting Firm (Project Equilibria), has been established to enhance the math and science educational experiences for Bay Area youth.  The management team has science and engineering backgrounds and has over 20 years of experience in mathematics and science education combined. Project Equilibria’s mission is to provide a holistic approach to math and science education which addresses the needs of all the factors (phases) – student, family and community – that determine academic achievement in mathematics and science education.

“Contrary to popular belief, the infrastructure for math and science education extends beyond the school walls or the state curriculum. The infrastructure includes a continuum of learning: inside and outside of the classroom; formal and informal learning opportunities. That continuum of learning is the premise of why Project Equilibria exists” says CEO Dr. Saphronia R. Johnson. “There are three factors (or phases) that determine student achievement in mathematics and science: the student; the family and the community. If one component is out of phase, then we don’t have balance and our students are not going to achieve success in math and science.”

Our student programs include after-school and summer programs that provide students with opportunities for hands on learning and skill development in math and science.  We also have academic enrichment workshops to encourage and promote self accountability for education and life with a special emphasis on career exploration and academic achievement. Our programs for the family consist of workshops that teach family members how to create a supportive learning environment at home as well as foster their child’s interest in math and science. Our programs for the community include providing curriculum to community organizations and schools interested in reforming or supplementing their math and science curriculum and creating an environment of awareness of careers in math and science.
