April 14, 2010 - PRLog -- FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – The NFL Alumni Association, created years ago with a mandate to provide care and financial support for former NFL players and to support their theme of “caring for kids” now seems to have deviated so far from their original mission(s) that they are in a state of total disarray, non focus and mismanagement.
With eight chapters closed, an unhappy membership, and a possible state of fiscal mismanagement facing them, the powers that be of the NFL Alumni, Inc. have still elected to enjoy their annual Super bowl of Golf event in Maui Hawaii.  While everyday working people are struggling to keep their heads above water, the executives of the NFL Alumni, Inc. are doing nothing but playing golf, eating, drinking and enjoying the money that that chapters and members have paid for their membership and received virtually nothing in return.
The audacity and fiscal irresponsibility exhibited by the NFL Alumni is not only evident by their continued production of, and participation in, an event that generates no revenue and is held in a location that few, if any, can travel to is just a further example of why the rank and file membership is not only unhappy with the value they get from their membership but is also why the membership is actually dwindling to nothing.
While grossing over $2.4 million in 2008, NFL Alumni, Inc. still not only managed to lose nearly $500,000 and only provided a mere $10,400 for headquarters youth program.  The ineffectiveness of NFL Alumni, Inc. has truly come to a head.
Change is imminent – of that there is no doubt.  The destruction of this valuable organization has been increasing and creeping along in the shadows for the past few years.  “just take a look at the profit and loss part of the books” exclaimed one chapter president who declined to be identified for fear of retaliation “these numbers clearly show the ineffectiveness of the leadership and current management of the NFL Alumni Inc. and the mismanagement of an incredibly valuable property led by a group of people who never even played the game.
Recently, the NFL sanctioned and funded a new NFL Alumni Association led by former NY Giant George Martin.  Former players that are members and even those that are not have high hopes for Mr. Martin and his obvious commitment to the former players and their involvement and participation in the association.  The refocus of the organization on caring for its own and its continuing commitment to its caring for kids program combined with a seasoned operations man like Mr. Martin can only mean that the “new” NFL Alumni Association can only move in a positive direction for all involved.
