July 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter  was pleased to assist with the rescue of 30 Beagles from a recently bankrupt laboratory in Oxford, NJ.

St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center of Madison contacted Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter a few weeks ago, asking for assistance with the rescue of the dogs.  The unfortunate Beagles were caught up in bankruptcy court proceedings, and were finally released on July 2. Vans from Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, St. Hubert's, and Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association arrived at the Oxford laboratory scene in the early afternoon and within 45 minutes the Beagles were on their way to safety.  The animals spent the holiday weekend enjoying sunshine, grass and summer breezes, some for the very first time.

The Beagles will be given a full veterinary exam, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and temperament evaluated at Mt. Pleasant prior to adoption.

“Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter was honored to be asked to be a part of this rescue effort in NJ.  These dogs are companion animals by nature and just want affection from all.” says Nicole Lewy Drummond, Executive Director of Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter “The Beagles have already settled in at the shelter and are enjoying all of the attention they are getting from our staff and volunteers.”

Given their good condition, it is expected that the dogs will be available for adoption soon.
