Cook & Schmid Expands Team With Director Of Social Marketing And Account Supervisor

Sept. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Cook & Schmid, a San Diego-based public relations, advertising and marketing firm, announced it has added two new positions to the firm’s San Diego team.

Cook & Schmid has hired Deborah Castillo as director of social marketing and environmental affairs and Lawrence McGuire as account supervisor.  Castillo holds more than 17 years of professional communications and management experience and McGuire holds over 14 years of professional experience managing complex public and media outreach programs.

Prior to joining Cook & Schmid, Castillo directed and managed the City of San Diego’s Think Blue® media and public advocacy campaign to reduce urban runoff to San Diego’s beaches, bays and watersheds, including producing and writing multiple Emmy and Telly-award-winning public service announcements.  

In that role, she worked with environmental stakeholders on stormwater regulatory orders and managed communication of stormwater minimum Best Management Practices (BMPs) to stakeholders and civic groups focusing on residential and commercial BMPs.

McGuire has extensive public sector experience which includes work for a major water district and city government work on several key projects, including two citywide planning initiatives; $4.6 billion and $773 million water infrastructure improvement programs; storm water pollution prevention education; and park and recreation facility improvement projects.
