Fundraiser to benefit local Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes

Sept. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, Sept. 14 and Tuesday, Sept. 21, On the Border restaurant in West Springfield in conjunction with Team Walt will host two Give Back nights to benefit the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

Those who would like to support the give back nights can by enjoying a meal at On the Border on Sept. 14 or Sept. 21. In order for 10 % of their bill to be donated to the ADA, patrons must have one of the three following items: a copy of the promotional flyer, an e-mail/text from a Team Walt teammate on their phone/personal digital assistant or a copy of a print or online publication clipping about the event. Team Walt team members will be on hand at both events at 6 p.m.

Named in honor of the late James Walter Clark, Jr. who passed away from diabetes at the age of 49, Team Walt is participating in the Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes for their third year. They are hoping that collaborating with On the Border will help shed more light on this serious illness.

According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), "nearly 21 million Americans are living with diabetes, and that number includes the 6.3 million who don't even know that they have it. Even more frightening is the fact that if current trends don't change, one in three Americans will develop diabetes in their lifetime. "
