Follow on Google News | Charity Golf Event Approaches Cut-Off Time for Buying Golf BallsValuable prizes will be awarded at NSCC’s First Annual Helicopter Ball Drop at Charity Golf Tournament September 24
By: North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Sponsored by Ganem Jewelers, the drop will begin approximately 12:30 pm with a helicopter flying overhead and dropping more than 3,000 numbered golf balls on the Westin Kierland driving range. Each ball will carry a handwritten number representing the individual who purchased it. The prizes will be awarded to the three balls in the hole or closest to the pin. You need not be present to win a prize! But time is running out! Balls are available for purchase up until midnight Thursday, Sept. 23, for $25 each, or five for $100, at www.armedzillafoundation.org. The Grand Prize is a limited edition Tag Heuer SLR watch. Second prize is a vacation cruise for two from I.C.E., third prize is a putting green donated by Express Turf and fourth prize is a free one-year NSCC membership. “The opportunity to purchase a golf ball will end at midnight Sept. 23,” said Tom Lockhart, CEO, NSCC. “Our third annual tournament is already a huge success, having sold out almost immediately. However, we invite the public to join us on the driving range and watch the golf balls come raining down from the helicopter, and to see the lucky winners announced. It’s a fun way to enjoy your lunch hour on a Friday afternoon.” Networking and socializing will be going on in the Brittlebrush Bar and Grill from noon and throughout the afternoon. The Bar and Grill will be open for lunch, snacks and beverages. Tickets for over 150 other raffle prizes will be sold, but the winner must be present to win at the dinner following the Tournament. Only paid players, sponsors and volunteers will have dinner provided that evening. All others may take advantage of the cash bar and hang out to see what they've won in the raffle. This year’s tournament will benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank, which provides meals for over 300,000 underprivileged families in the Valley, and Gabriel’s Angels, which delivers healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children in the Valley, nurturing their ability to love and trust, thereby freeing them from the cycle of violence.
