Sept. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- With a favourable weather conditions and lack of experience in the management of this pest, Tuta absoluta have expanded rapidly in Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and Syria causing substantial economic damage to Tomato production in all these countries. In the Eastern Mediterranean, Tuta absoluta is also devastating Tomato production in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Israel.

The progress of the pest took every body by surprise while the experience in managing it is still developing in the western Mediterranean with mixed results. The new website aims to bring all experts together to provide timely and badly needed support to the farming communities in all of the countries.

The spread of the pest is also threatening other adjacent   countries such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan.

www.tutabsolut.org is a website sponsored by Russell IPM, UK manufacturer of pheromones and bio control products to provide an independent platform for all concerned in the management of Tuta absoluta to  present, express and share their views and experience as well as concerns and questions..
