Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- After participating in a “princess tea party” fundraiser for Nordhoff High School in Ojai, CA, music students Jessica Slaght, Amanda Landis, Camille Mendoza, Harmony Hartley and Zelda Grove collaborated together to start their own singing “princess” birthday party service. Their service is called Bringing the Singing and offers children the magic of getting to meet their favorite princesses and have them sing with them, along with participating in a variety of dances, games, activities and crafts that make for the perfect party. The princesses’ travel to your home or venue equipped with their own sound system, music, sing-a-longs, interactive dances, themed activities, face paint, and tiara crafts. “We watched the same princess movies as young kids,” commented student Jessica Slaght, “and so it was really special to play the characters we grew up with knowing it would make a little girl’s birthday special.”

Jessica’s mother, Sandra Slaght, was the main support of their endeavor providing the funding for the costuming, face paint, wigs, tiaras, and other items. Photographer, Noah Lashley did their publicity photo shoot and a website was launched, www.bringingthesinging.com. The main ideas for marketing were put together by two of the girls, Jessica Slaght and Amanda Landis along with suggestions from their mothers. According to Jessica, “the primary goal of a business is typically to make money, which is certainly one of the things we hoped to accomplish, but another thing we wanted to do was take the things we loved (singing, acting, princesses, and children) and meld them together into something new and exciting for the community.”

All five girls sing in choral groups at Nordhoff High School and have some theater and vocal training with three of the six princesses private students of professional vocalist and educator, Ellen Johnson. The academically above average students are all very driven, task-oriented personalities. As a result they were all motivated to take the necessary steps in building their own part time business. The consensus of the girls is clear, “We’re very proud of "Bringing the Singing" because we all put a lot of heart and effort into it, so it's absolutely wonderful to see our work starting to pay off. We’re not sure how many high school students can say they've been entrepreneurs of a princess party service, but it was certainly tons of fun. We can't wait to see what we accomplish in the future.”
