Gordon Training International’s CEO, Linda Adams, Nominated for the Women Who Mean Business Award

Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Gordon Training International (GTI) is a world-renowned human relations training organization established in 1962 by three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Dr. Thomas Gordon.  GTI’s CEO, Linda Adams, was recently nominated for the October, 2010 “Women Who Mean Business” Award sponsored by the San Diego Business Journal and Union Bank.

For the last 15 years, Ms. Adams has served as president and CEO of the international human relations training organization that her husband founded in 1962, Gordon Training International  GTI is most well-known for the Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) model, which emphasizes a set of research-based communication and conflict resolution skills to create balanced, healthy and peaceful relationships.  

Ms. Adams is the author of Be Your Best and Effectiveness Training for Women, books that teach the essential skills for developing personal responsibility and building partnership-relationships. These books have been translated into 13 languages. She has developed and/or revised a number of GTI's programs including: Be Your Best (program for individuals for personal and professional development), Conflict Resolution Workshop (for team members and supervisors), Leader Effectiveness Training (leadership training for leaders and managers), Parent Effectiveness Training and Teacher Effectiveness Training. She was nominated for her charitable work and donations to local charities including:  Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside—she and GTI donated educational materials to help battered women and children learn relationship skills, Panamerican School in Tijuana—she has sponsored over 100 children over the last 20 years so they can attend school, KICKS—she purchases 1,000 pairs of shoes for disadvantaged children as a result of Katrina and Soledad prison—she and GTI donated over 500 self-study Parent Effectiveness Training programs to inmates searching to better their parenting skills.

She has been an invited speaker throughout Europe and in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Madagascar and Poland. Ms. Adams holds a Master's Degree in Sociology from California State University at Los Angeles. She was the wife and partner of Dr. Thomas Gordon for 35 years. She has one daughter, Michelle Adams, who is the Vice-President of Gordon Training International. Her personal mission is to make the Gordon Model available in as many countries, cultures and languages as possible.
