Dec. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- When it comes to serving the community, Jerome and Theresa Tocio fill the Naples Community to overflowing.  Their family owned and operated, quaint Sunburst Café opens its doors to Naples neighbors every morning with unbelievable food and service.  This Costa Rican Coffee House may be pint sized, but it is bursting with a friendly, homey, fresh atmosphere.  Every morning at 7 am, guests are awakened to the fresh aroma of gourmet coffees and espressos along with the rich flavors of fresh pastries.  Their 1,100 square foot café has been serving a full line of scrumptious breakfast and lunch entrees for over ten years.  The unique ambiance is enjoyed by both young and old alike.

What patrons may not know is that the Sunburst Café also serves the community through Empty Bowls.  Every year the Tocio’s along with several other Naples Originals, a group of restaurants in Naples which are independently owned and operated, serve up a large donation of their finest and tastiest soups.  Empty Bowls is a nationwide fundraiser for local food banks.  The Empty Bowls Event in Naples is one of the major fundraisers to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank.  A $10 donation permits an individual to select a handmade ceramic bowl and taste a delicious soup served up by one of the local restaurants such as the Sunburst Café, http://www.sunburstnaples.com.  According to Theresa Tocio, “It’s a wonderful event for the community and what better thing for a restaurant to do than help feed the hungry.”

On January 29th from 11am to 2pm at Cambier Park, the Naples Empty Bowls volunteers invite the community to line up and make a difference in their community.  The hope for this Empty Bowls event is that Neapolitans will line up to show their support and will exceed the success of the previous year through their generous donations. The Tocios, along with more than 25 other restaurants, will be ladling up one of their homemade soups, hoping to feed your stomach and your soul.
