Volusia County Chiropractor Collects Holiday Toys for Abused Children

Dec. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr. Kim Reddick and his wellness clinic, Complete Wellness Center of Orange City, collected holiday toys for the resident children at Domestic Abuse Council, Inc., located in DeLand and Daytona.

Complete Wellness Center of Orange City has collected toys over the holidays for the last 9 years.   Their usual toy recipient only wanted food donations this year.  So, after an internet search the new recipient of the holiday toys was Domestic Abuse Council, Inc.

The wellness center started collecting toys right after Thanksgiving. With newsletters, emails, blogs and facebook updates to their patients, the toys started rolling in.  By the December 16 delivery date, there were sufficient toys available for the resident children.

“Our patients have always come through for the annual toy drive,” said Kim Reddick, owner of Complete Wellness Center of Orange City.  

“This year was no exception.  I think we collected more toys this year than last,” commented Reddick, “And it is something truly amazing during this time of economic difficultly.”

Among the toys were board games, dolls, remote controlled cars, puzzles and two bicycles.  Reddick was pleased with the donation his office gave Domestic Abuse Council.

According to their website, Domestic Abuse Council, Inc. which started in 1976, provides emergency shelter, victim advocacy, transitional housing, support/education groups for victims, information and referral services, case management, residential and community programs for child witnesses of domestic violence, family intervention programs for the abusive partner, legal advocacy, community education and professional training in Volusia County.  There are emergency shelters and transitional housing in Daytona and DeLand.

Domestic Abuse Council, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that relies on donations from the general public, both in cash and In-Kind donations for their Thrift Store.
