Christopher Lunn & Co facing legal action from clients

Jan. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- A public meeting is being staged in January to provide the firm’s clients – many of whom freelance within the TV industry – with legal advice on how to launch a claim to get back their money.

Andy Lynch, from law firm Bark & Co which specialises in criminal, civil fraud and commercial litigation, said: “People need to be aware that there are legal solutions available to them and we shall be going through these options.

“Affected parties can potentially not only seek to recover professional fees already paid to Christopher Lunn & Co but also any fees they may have to pay to sort out their tax affairs together with any interest or penalties imposed by HMRC.

“We can also offer a number of funding options for any potential action.”

The meeting is being staged jointly by Bark & Co, tax investigation specialist WLH Tax and Nyman Libson Paul, a respected firm of chartered accountants that specialises in the entertainment industry. All three firms are based in London.

Warren Hyams, of WLH Tax, said: “As well as learning about their legal options, people attending will also be able to get more information about how to make a managed disclosure to HMRC in respect of earlier years tax irregularities by the 28thFebruary deadline.”

The meeting will take place at 7pm on January 13 2011 at Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London. People wanting to attend should email maureen.barker@nlpca.co.uk to reserve a place.

In an email to clients on December 4, Christopher Lunn & Co advised clients that “the HMRC say that they are no longer prepared to deal with us as your agents for the purposes of your tax affairs.”

The email explained this meant Christopher Lunn & Co was no longer able to file client’s tax returns online. HMRC wrote to all of Christopher Lunn & Co‘s clients on November 30.
