Follow on Google News | Electric Vehicle EV: Mass murder in Florida by car exhaust calls for EV revenge. What an opportune time for EV “second coming”.(Electric Vehicle EV book excerpt). Mass killing by gas exhausts, gas price on the rise to reach 4-5$ per gallon by 2012, peak oil, greater public awareness, send a clear and resounding message: Go EV
By: EvPal At the same time as the EV is making its second coming, five young lives were taken, casualties of gas car deadly exhausts, to never return. They did not live to see the glorious days of the electric vehicle transportation industry finally seeing the light. They no longer can aspire to one day drive and live in a cleaner and safer environment. The silent, invisible killer came in like a thief, in the middle of the night. The lethal breaths, they took unknowingly, of carbon monoxide come from a car exhaust left running in the parking below their room. They were celebrating life but met with death instead, without warning. But, should there have been a warning? Consider this, a drug manufacturer is required by law to in-clude in the package insert any minor or major side effects, ad-verse reactions one can get from the use of the medication. If there is a danger of death or catastrophic event, the drug compa-ny must place on the container in bold big letters what is called a “black box warning”. The same goes for food and chemicals, although to a less obsessive level. Nevertheless, the consumer has the right to protection and fair warning under the law. That is more or less the point I am making. Why then it is different for the gas companies and, to a cer-tain extent, the auto manufacturers and Big Oil? It is a well known fact that millions have died from carbon monoxide poi-soning either accidentally or by suicide. Some study in California showed an increase of lung cancer and other upper respiratory diseases because of the serious air pollution they have out there. Many researchers have proven over and over that oil and bypro-ducts, such as gasoline and plastic products as well as fertilizers misuse, can be extremely dangerous for individuals, animals and the environment. The Exxon and BP disasters exposed to the whole world the catastrophic effects stemming from oil spills. Global warming is another highly publicized consequence of the toxic effect on our environment and the planet earth as a whole. Yet the government, the public and more particularly the oil and car industries have remain passive and silent as far as warning citizens about the so obvious dangers of gasoline derived carbon pollution, including deaths. This article is an excerpt of my book: "Electric Vehicle EV Second Coming" at http://www.ElectricVehicleEV.com. Well, these five lives taken so tragically, at a time when elec-tric vehicles are coming out, stress the urgent need for all in posi-tion of power to put pressure on the culprits to finally face up and duly warn drivers of the danger of carbon monoxide poison-ing from gas cars. At the same time, why not a massive education and awareness building efforts to highlight the benefits of electric vehicles. Why not seize the opportunity, if only at the City and State levels, to foster their more widespread adoption. As the deadly effects of exhaust fumes from a car in Miami made national if not global headlines, is it not time for our gov-ernment officials to demand fair warning and labels on every gas car sold. We should demand they warn, in bright bold letters where everyone can see: Exhaust fumes contain carbon mo-noxide, a deadly poison that kills while you sleep. All we can do is hope…. On a more positive note, let us rejoice that the days ahead will surely bring a decline in gas cars as EVs are already out and on the rise. It is estimated that 20% of cars on the road will be electric by 2020. What an opportune time for the EV to be making its “second coming”. Mass killing by gas car poisonous exhausts, gas price on the rise expected to reach 4-5$ per gallon by 2012, peak oil, greater public awareness of the global effects of air pollution, all converge to send a clear and resounding message.
