The award winning online learning company has just been awarded a new contract to develop online learning resources for NHS Education for Scotland (NES).
By: Aurion Learning The toolkit and work based learning resources will be specifically designed to support healthcare staff develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in facilitating ACP with individuals in their care, and in delivering palliative and end of life care. They will bring together the most relevant tools, learning resources and guidance to support healthcare staff achieve identified learning outcomes and apply their knowledge in their own area of practice. The learning portal will be hosted on the NES website and be available to all healthcare practitioners throughout Scotland. Speaking about the announcement, Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning said: “We previously worked with NES to develop a number of e-learning programmes so we know that they are completely committed to delivering the highest quality learning experiences to healthcare staff across Scotland. For that reason we’re delighted that Aurion Learning has once again been given the opportunity to work with NES to deliver this innovative online learning resource.” Dr. Maggie Grundy, Programme Director Cancer Care from NES commented: “Aurion Learning has an excellent reputation and we are looking to forward to working with them.” In 2008 the Scottish Government Launched Living and Dying Well: a national action plan for palliative and end of life care in Scotland (SGHD, 2008). The plan’s stated aim was to ensure that palliative and end of life care is available for all patients and families across all care settings. NES are working with the Scottish Government to support and facilitate the development of education to ensure that healthcare professionals have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, competence and confidence to care for individuals and their families living and dying from any advanced, progressive or incurable condition. The development of the Advance & Anticipatory Care Planning Toolkit and the Principles and Practice of Palliative and End of Life Care workbased learning resource will provide further learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.
