Vista Toastmasters Club Announces Speech Contest Winners

Vista Toastmasters Southwest Orlando is proud to announce the winners in their Club Speech Contests. These speakers will advance to the next level of competition this month.

March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- On February 24, Vista Toastmasters Southwest Orlando joined more than 12,500 Toastmasters clubs from around the world participating in the world’s largest speech contest - the 2011 Toastmasters International Speech Contest. In addition, the Table Topics Contest, a contest of impromptu speaking was held.

Joan Rumph of Winter Garden won 1st Place in the International Speech Contest, while Ken Stevens, Metrowest resident, took 2nd Place. In the Table Topics Contest, Allyse Scott gained the 1st Place trophy, while Rikesh Amin followed in 2nd Place.

Both Joan and Allyse now advance to the next level of competition, the Area Contest, being held on March 26 in Orlando. The Table Topics Contest proceeds up to district level in North and Central Florida. For information about local Toastmasters clubs, please visit http://www.toastmastersd84.org.

The International Speech Contest begins at the local club level and proceeds through the area, division, district and final levels. Eighty-two district semifinalists compete during the four-day 2011 Toastmasters International Convention held Aug. 17-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Nine contenders make it to the final round on Aug. 20, where the winner is crowned the Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking.

Vista Toastmasters member Larry Alario, had the distinction of advancing through four levels to the semi-finals last year.
