One area that should always be high on an employer’s health and safety radar is accident reporting and investigation. By law and employer should report the following types of accident to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):
•   Fatalities and major accidents
•   Injuries resulting in more than three days off work, or an inability to carry on with normal work
•   Dangerous occurrences

Wayne says,

“An accident reporting and investigation toolbox talk should highlight several key areas:
What the employee should do if they witness an accident at work and why they should record all accidents in the accident book. Employees should also be made aware who they should inform within the company once an accident has occurred.”


He continues,

“When employees are concentrating on their jobs, they can often forget that health and safety in the work place is very important. A toolbox talk is an excellent way to highlight to them that constant awareness and improvement of the health and safety process can not only help prevent future accidents, but also contributes to the bottom line and ensures the ongoing success of the company.”

Wayne finishes,
