According to the study results, the global consumption value of HB-LED Driver ICs in selected lighting applications reached $1.21 billion in 2010, a 36% increase from 2009. The consumption value is forecast to increase to $4.77 billion in 2016. The global HB-LED Driver IC consumption value in 2010 was $1.21 billion, up from $891.62 million in 2009. During the 2010-2017 timeline, ElectroniCast predicts the consumption (use) value will grow at an average annual rate of nearly 22%. “The Asia Pacific region (APAC) led in global consumption with 48 percent in relative market share in 2010,” said Stephen Montgomery, president of International Business at ElectroniCast. “The American region (South, Central and North America) is forecast to expand at the fastest pace to $1.615 billion in consumption value in the year 2017 (see Data Table). The EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa countries) held a 21 percent share of the worldwide HB-LED Driver IC consumption value last year in 2010. The consumption value of HB-LED Driver ICs in the EMEA region is forecast to increase to $1.46 billion in 2017,” Montgomery concluded.
