Follow on Google News | Hundreds of people worldwide support Belfast dog scheduled to be killedPeople around the world along with Vampire Diaries Actor Ian Somerhalder have joined together calling for the immediate release of an American bull dog held by Belfast City Council.
On Monday the 28th of March 2011 at 10:30 AM, a hearing is due to take place at Laganside Court in Belfast to discuss the captive dogs situation. Prior to the court hearing, hundreds of people across the globe have been raising awareness of the issue and pressuring Belfast City Council to free Lennox. Animal advocacy organisation, Action for our Planet (AFOP) along with countless other organisations and individuals worldwide have sent hundreds of tweets to the city councils Twitter profile. To add to this, supporters of the Save Lennox campaign managed to get American actor and star of The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder to rally support for the cause. A spokesman for Action for our Planet, Oli Dillon Squire, one of the organisations calling for the release of Lennox said that ''Hundreds of people worldwide are demanding the release of a dog unfairly subjected to harsh conditions at the hands of Belfast City Council. It is clear that people want to send a clear message to those holding Lennox the dog in captivity and the message is that no animal deserves to be taken from it's loving owners and treated like a prisoner on death row''. Concerned organisations and individuals worldwide are hoping that the city council of Belfast makes the right decision by releasing the bull dog from captivity and sending Lennox back to his family home. # # # Action for our Planet (AFOP) is a website providing people with information on various world issues including animal exploitation, human rights, climate change, corruption and political oppression.
