AFOP joins with PETA in urging Go Daddy users to cancel their accounts

Animal lovers worldwide respond to the killing of an African elephant by Go Daddy's CEO, Dr Bob Parsons.

April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Animal advocacy organisations PETA and Action for our Planet (AFOP) along with hundreds of their supporters on Twitter have been urging anyone with a GoDaddy.com account to close it and transfer their domains to more ethical web hosting services. The call comes after the companies CEO Dr Bob Parsons posted a video of himself, on his personal website, shooting an African elephant. The actions of Go Daddy’s CEO have sent shockwaves around the world, causing outrage.

Because of Mr Parsons blatant disregard for wild animals, people worldwide have cancelled their accounts with Go Daddy and moved to animal-friendly web hosting companies.  Name Cheap, DomainIt and Cloud Jolt are among just some of the companies who have offered new customers special discounts, with some of the profits being donated to wildlife charities.

Animal lovers worldwide along with PETA and AFOP have already helped convince a significant number of people on Twitter to cancel their accounts with Go Daddy, in protest to the killing of a vulnerable species.

Action for our Planet’s founder Oli Dillon Squire said ‘‘Killing such a treasured species is not only cruel but a terrible PR move by Bob Parsons who is no doubt experiencing a drastic loss in profits because of his immoral actions.’’
