Pioneers of Reggae & Ska Photo Series for Japan Relief

Los Angeles based portrait and celebrity editorial photorapher, Jiro Schneider, donates photographs for an auction that will raise money for the most vulnerable victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the children.

April 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Jiro Schneider, originally from the Mojave Desert of Southern California, moved to Los Angeles when he was 22.  And six years later, the celebrated portrait photographer says he still likes it there. Schneider’s drive came from photographing L.A.’s less exposed underground scenes - music, culture, and nightlife.  “In my eyes, photography is about
meeting people,” explains Schneider.  “Doesn’t matter if you speak the same language or not, if you can connect on some level, even for an instance, it’s a beautiful thing.”

This week, Jiro donates an amazing series of archival pigment prints on canvas of some of the most prolific originators of reggae, ska and rocksteady. Proceeds from portraits of musicians like Desmond Dekker, Derrick Morgan, U-Roy and more, will go to Ashinaga, an organization that has been around since the 1960s and provides financial and emotional support to orphans. After the devastating earthquake and tsunami, they are focusing on the
children that have lost one or both parents to this tragedy.  Bid this week only at http://mamaearth.webstore.com.
