May 2, 2011 - PRLog -- On April 20, 2011 Greg Heines of LTC Solutions and Lowell Thomas, Brian Killian and Irvin Odegard of Lowell Thomas Tool Inc., demonstrated the Jackclamp, http://www.jackclamp.com/, and accessories to a team of twenty plus engineers, logisticians, user/test representatives and subject matter experts (SME) at Selfridge Air National Guard Base (SANGB) at Harrison Twp, MI. The demonstration consisted of twenty minutes of power point, http://www.jackclamp.com/howto.html, explaining the technical aspects and benefits of the Jackclamp for military applications. The Jackclamp was presented on video being used in actual military applications by maintenance engineers at the 1st Battalion, 163rd infantry, National Guard Base in Belgrade, Mt. The video demonstrated beneficial uses for the Jackclamp by the maintenance engineers in problem service areas. They were pleased with the ease and safety of the Jackclamp in securing a drive shaft on an FMTV for transmission filter service. After servicing the filter, they were able to use the same tool to reinstall the u-joint caps. The jacking capabilities of the Jackclamp provided the perfect tool to help replace a starter on a HMWWV, http://lowellthomastoolblog.com/category/military/, by safely turning a two man job into a one man Job and making it much easier for the one technician. See more examples at http://www.jackclamp.com/howto.html.
Members of the technical team were presented with actual Jackclamps to handle and experiment with during the power point and video demonstration which initiated many questions and much interest in the tool. Many were impressed with the durable construction and quality craftsmanship of the Jackclamp.
The demonstration then moved to an area where the technical team could see the Jackclamp in actual applications. The Jackclamp was demonstrated in various configurations of jacking, clamping, hoisting and spreading on a real HMMWV. Representatives of Lowell Thomas Tool demonstrated how the Jackclamp and accessories could be safely used for emergency repair in the field of operations by the modern day warfighter. The capabilities of the Jackclamp to be assembled around and/or inside a vehicle creates many applications that previously were not available. The compact size means the Jackclamp can fit into the existing tool box areas in the vehicles
Demonstrations were also presented that detailed the capabilities of the Jackclamp on building maintenance. Projects from installing HVAC ducting and wiring to remodeling cabinets in offices and work areas. The spreader jaw accessories were displayed in applications of narrow one quarter inch spreading to extended clamping up to 34 inches. The V-Jaw accessories were shown holding pipe, wood dowel or pipe and square tubing in a flexible format that is not capable with any other tool. The Jackclamp has a foot attachment that allows it to act as a second set of hands which is beneficial when working alone.
The team of technicians spent the whole hour available assembling the Jackclamp into all the different configurations. They enjoyed the hands on aspect of the demonstration that allowed them to use the Jackclamp on actual projects. Many questions were presented by the technicians on applications that they had uses for.
Greg Heines of LTC Solutions will continue with followup contacts and resource information as well as continuing to contact other military installations to schedule demonstrations.
Most aspects of the presentation are available at http://www.jackclamp.com/ under "clamp details".
