June 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Crystal Clear Publications and Author Crystal L. Bass recently launched “Precious Gems,” a campaign to encourage healthy communication between parents and children, reduce the rate of abuse and molestation of children, and promote high self-esteem and self-worth of young girls. As a part of the campaign, Crystal Clear Publications started weekly Twitter chats yesterday, June 8. The topic of the first chat was “Instilling Positive Self-Worth and Self Esteem of Girls.” Featured experts included  Society 4 Girls, Project Aloe, Polished For Prom, Skin Deep Ministries, Beautiful Butterflies Inc., and Maryland Institute for Dance. Dozens of Twitter users also joined the #PreciousGems discussion.

The hour-long Twitter chat included a lively conversation about the importance of positive self-image, how images in the media can affect girls, trends in the way young girls think about themselves, and how each participating organization is making a difference in the lives of girls.

Each of the participating organizations made good points about the topic:

- "Girls with no self-worth have no limitations and go looking for things in all the wrong places." -Polished For Prom

- "Father figures are extremely important in the lives of young people and most definitely our girls." -Beautiful Butterflies, Inc.

- "Everything starts at home. The parent must instill morale in their children" -Society 4 Girls

- "When girls do not have positive self-image, they lose their self-worth." -Project Aloe

- "When girls don't value who they are they put people, places, and things above them sometimes at any cost." -Skin Deep Ministries

- "We have programs like 'Dancing on PURPOSE' which gives girl an opportunity to define their purpose through dancing and help build esteem " -Maryland Institute for Dance

Next week's Precious Gems chat will feature teachers from public and private schools who will discuss ways to spot abused/neglected children in school settings and how teachers help foster positive environments for students.

Anyone can join the Precious Gems Twitter discussion each Tuesday from 8 to 9 p.m. by using the #PreciousGems hash tag, following @CrystalClearPub  or @ThinkBrownINK. For more information on the Precious Gems Campaign, please contact raevyn@thinkbrownink.com.
