Heart in Hand Counseling Services opens innovative new family practice

June 15, 2011 - PRLog -- DENVER – Psychotherapist Elisha Gilb, MA, has opened the new Heart in Hand Counseling Services family counseling practice at 5800 Franklin Street in Denver to provide a quality and affordable option for families with children ages 2-12 struggling with abandonment, trust and other difficult issues through the innovative use of “play therapy.”
Heart in Hand Counseling Services also provides counseling options for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and ambiguous, individuals, couples, families and adolescents.

“Play therapy” is the act of allowing a child to explore their inner thoughts, tensions, emotional well-being, feeling states and their world through play. In a safe therapeutic environment with a non-directive approach, kids will end up leading where they need help. This approach makes children feel safe to explore their world.”

“I started this business because of a desire to be of service to others. Primary to having good human connections is having those relationships where somebody can sit in your space and see who you are,” said Gilb. “I can do that with play therapy and see a need for it, and the value I can provide, in the marketplace.”

Gilb earned a Masters Degree in Counseling at Regis University in Denver and is currently earning a PhD in Depth Psychotherapy from Pacifica University in Carpenteria, California. On top of her top-shelf education, she has a long background of working with young people through her 10-plus years of recreational management experience at the Gold Crown Foundation and Apex Center in Colorado.
